Not political here...I have nothing to say about Bin Laden. In fact, other than recognizing him as a terrorist and indirectly got me into a small trouble once, I know nut about him. You must be wondering how he got me the trouble.
Last year, I handled a print job of a book title named "Where is Bin Laden?". Due to the sensitive title, this book was stuck at custom for retention of few hours. The poor driver who was in charge to deliver the advanced samples from JB plant to me was being interrogated thoroughly by the police officer at Woodlands Customs. Moreover, he was a Muslim. The level of suspicion was higher. He was just a dispatch guy. He had no idea about the book and couldn't answer to all their questions. The officer opened the packet of sample and checked the content. Well, it was just a children puzzle book, in spite of the controversial title. Finally, they decided to let the driver off but warned him that they did not wanna see the books again. Of course, they documented the case and made a report on it.
Few days later, I received a call from Police Force. They asked me a lot of questions regarding the book. It seemed rather serious. So, I played Taiji and threw the ball to my manager. She managed the call pretty well and she quickly reported to GM after that, covering her own ass too. GM did the necessary to send the book to MDA for approval of contents and somehow obtained verbal consent for it. We proceeded as normal.
However, the police call was still being reported to our MD in a senior management meeting. MD was very agitated for not being informed of the whole event. He questioned GM. Aha...here my trouble was. GM denied that he knew and my manager acted innocent too. So who was the culprit in the end? Me!!
Sigh...a typical case of office politics. My Taiji skills were not good enough yet.
