AMK Yes Asian Cafe

It was our first visit to this restaurant, located outside the stretch of AMK hub (same row as Old Chang Kee). We ordered 2 main dishes and 1 side dish. All were delicious.

The potato filling were very smooth inside (like mashed potato), topping with melted cheese. When 2 blended together, it was so sinful yet irresistible. :p

Baked potato (original)

I ordered claypot curry chicken. The portion was big as compared to food court standard. Well, seriously, perhaps it is even more worthwhile than the famous Killiney curry chicken. The gravy was very thick with coconut milk and spices. I could feel their sincerity in making good food for their customers, unlike those restaurant/food stall owners who only care about profitability and become stingy with the ingredients.

Darling ordered Yuan Yang rice. It was a big serving too. As you can see from the photo below, there were 1 piece of chicken chop, 1 piece of pork chop and an egg. The size of the chops was not small. The gravy was nice.

Overall, the bill was less than S$20. Noted that they didn't charge GST or service tax for the bill. :) If you ever visit AMK hub, try this cafe and give me your comments.

Nihon Mura

We have found a good makan place for cheap sushi near our place - Nihon Mura at Yeo Chu Kang.

If you love sushi, you may stick to the sushi on the conveyor belt. It's pretty much a good deal as all sushi are at S$0.99 per plate.

No menu served. You may order a-la-carte dishes by picking up ice cream sticks from the display corner. Cool!

Green tea is at $0.80 but not refillable. Well...if the sushi are so cheap, we shouldn't really expect free flow of green tea. People are doing business after all.

Overall, the prices are reasonable, even for their a-la-carte items. All dishes are served in rather big portion. The taste is quite okay too.

Say no to aging

I bought 3 bottles of concentrated bird nest from 参燕庄 (my customer) located at 裕华国货, at a cost of less than S$180 (after 25% discount). Each bottle is for one week consumption. According to the boss's instructions, the maximum daily consumption of bird nest is 30 gram. It won't be better if we eat more and it might not reach best effect if we eat less than that. At the beginning, we should eat 30 gram of bird nest every day. A month later, we may reduce the intake by half. Another month later, we may eat it once a week and subsequently maintain twice a month. He says if we follow tightly to this course, we will definitely sense the difference in our skin and health. Believe it or not? Try it yourself. :)

Well...it might be costly at the beginning but it will be more affordable when it comes to later stage. Botox and laser treatment are even costlier than this.

P.S. The discount was not specially for me. It was a promotional price during Mother's day period.

No listener

I miss those old days when I always can find listener. Nowadays, I don't seem to have anyone interested in listening to me. Sad, right? I know this is my life and I am responsible for it. Perhaps, I should just think of shutting myself in my own world and do not talk to anyone else about my problems? Isn't this better? I hate to have people pretending listening to me but in fact thinking of something else in their mind. If they do not wanna listen, walk away please!!! Do not waste my breath talking so much and ask irrelevant questions. It just makes me like a FOOL!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid lady boss!

I thought I was that lucky to get a case so easily. In the end, I was not. The lady boss did not wanna sign the application form. All work that I had done was wasted. She still claimed that she didn't wanna waste my time? She had already wasted and even wasted more when I needed to call her so many times to persuade or convince her. Stupid! :(

Well...no matter what, my life still goes on. My world won't collapse because of one case. I appreciate that my boss is very understanding about this but she urges me to work harder and faster for my next case. I know where she is coming from. The tougher the challenge is, the more I won't surrender. Gambate, gambate!

Hope things will get better and smoother soon. Hope I won't be played out again. Hope I won't be a fool anymore.

P.S. Perhaps, it was retribution. I was a bitch like her last time. I just didn't know how important my signature was to that credit card boy. He begged us so hard yet I wasn't moved at all. Darling was kind and he signed up with him. He said if this could help him, why not? Ya...why not? How I wish I could meet more people like darling than myself!

Batam trip - Day 2

The next morning, darling woke me up around 7:30am. He said we shouldn't waste the included breakfast even though Ferry would bring us to have wanton mee later. Greedy darling! Ferry reached hotel to fetch us around 9am. We then proceeded to one of their favorite noodle shop. Honestly, I was already full by then. Darling still ordered one bowl for me. I was not sure if it was because I was lacking of appetite or the noodles were just not right for my taste. I only had a few small bites and left darling cleaning up the rest for me. :p

Lor mee (no vinegar)

Mee kacang (noodle in peanut gravy)

Wanton mee (no dark sauce)

The next in the itinerary was to visit the one of the largest temple in South East Asia - Maha Vihara Duta Mitraya, located in Batam Centre.

Darling was praying

Some volunteers were cleaning the statues

They took us to another temple for Guan Yin after this. It was located at PT KTM resorts. The iconic Guan Yin statue towering over 23 metres high at the resort, more of a tourist attraction than or religious reasons.

The weather was really hot. So, May suggested to go for massage & spa as it was really cheap there. She said a lot of Singaporeans went to Batam for massage & spa and pedi & manicure. I would love to try spa but it wasn't convenient for me that day (having menses :p), so I could only have foot, hand & shoulder massage. Darling chose massage & lulur (Javanese body scrub). Mine was Rp 70000 (less than S$12) and darling's was Rp 140000 (around S$21) for 1.5 hour. So cheap! The service was not bad, ok? The seat was even provided with personal LCD TV and headset. It was really impressive. I had my massage while enjoying cable TV channels.

After the soothing session, we were all hungry. Darling needed rice, so we went to a restaurant which served nasi padang. The nasi padang was not like our hawker style. The waiter would place all dishes in small plate on our table. We didn't need to finish all of them. For those dishes we didn't want, we just left it untouched. Then, we wouldn't be charged for those dishes. For vegetables, they charged plate by plate. For meat, they charged piece by piece. Overall,
the meal cost Rp 191000 (about S$30) which we all thought it was quite expensive. :p

Nasi padang (various dishes)

After lunch, we only had Rp 1000 left in our wallet. We spent all our budget. So, it meant we should balik kampung already. :)

Darling and I (happy & contented)

It was a fruitful trip thought it was a short stay. We had great experiences over there. If not for Ferry, Diana & May, we might end up with a boring holiday in Batam. Thanks to you guys very much. Of course, thanks to darling too as he arranged to meet up with Ferry. Hope to visit Batam again when we are free. :)

Batam trip - Day 1

We woke up very early on Sat morning and rushed to Harbour Front. We were surprised to see the huge crowd there. So many people were going to Batam! We merely missed the ferry due to the chaotic check-in arrangement. I was quite pissed by that but luckily it didn't really spoil my mood as we still managed to catch the ferry on time. Whew!

We arrived Batam around 10am. We proceeded to our hotel and tried if we can check in earlier. Yes, we could! Good service? It was Panorama Regency Hotel.

King-sized bed

Nice shot! Flash!

Candid shot! He thought I was done! :p

We had our first meal in Batam at KFC. That was the only 'proper' eating place we could find within the vicinity of our hotel. My 2-piece chicken meal was served with a packet of white rice, instead of coleslaw & whipped potato. This meal was only Rp 23000 (S$3.55). Cheap cheap! The crispy chicken was marvelous. The flour wasn't too thick and the seasoning was just great. Deep frying is always Malay's forte.

Steven, Ferry & Diana

We went to meet Ferry & Diana (darling's friend & his girlfriend) after that. Ferry & Diana were local and both of them were very hospitable. They brought us around the shopping areas whole of the afternoon and recommended some delicious local delicacies for our dinner.

Nasi ayam bakar (Rp 12000 or S$1.85)

Nasi kuning (Rp 13000 or S$2) - Strongly recommended by Ferry

Porsi pempek (Rp 16000 or S$2.50) - Recommended by Diana

Ferry's sister, May, fetched us back to hotel. She even volunteered to be our tour guide on the second day. We were lucky, weren't we? :D

Bless me

Dragging for more than 3 weeks, I finally finished up my 1st case. I have spent many late nights to prepare the case and hopefully it can pass through the approval.

Currently, I am very slow in progress even though I am working hard and thinking hard about how I can improve business everyday. I think it is just like searching for a treasure. Before we can start digging for the treasure, we need to find the map first. I am searching...still searching...

God, bless me!
Buddha, bless me!
Everyone, bless me!

Meeting santa claus in May

Few days ago, I met a 'santa claus'. He gave me business and he also gave me a lot of presents. Look at what I got here...

Longines wallet

Longines cardholder

CK card holder and ballpoint pen

Longines pen

CK Eternity perfumes (women & men)

CK ballpoint pen

Longines foldable travel bag

The customer is a wholesaler of watches and fashion clothing. According to him, all these are free gifts for promotional purpose. These gifts are not of high value but are quite presentable. I would use the Longines pen and card holder. By doing that, will people think I own a Longines watch? Haha... :D

A lot of people think bankers are 'atas'. In fact, we are not better off. We also find Louis Vuitton bags and Mont Blanc pens are expensive. A colleague told me that she was once scolded by her lawyer customer for passing him a cheap ballpoint pen to sign documents. He then took out his own Mont Blanc to sign the papers. My colleague felt insulted and went to buy a Mont Blanc straightaway. Sometimes, bankers are 'forced' to use branded stuffs. Luckily, my customers are not so 'atas' or 'yaya'. :)

Mother's day & dad's birthday

My dad's birthday is in May too. We usually combine the celebration with Mother's day. So, both of them will share the joy to receive present respectively from us. I was rather busy with work whole of last week. I actually went for shopping for their presents last min. I got dad a Sony T300 camera and a Sovil Titus watch for mom. Hope they like what I chose for them. :)

Few years ago, mom told me that dad would love to have a camera for his own. I noted that. But every year, it seemed like we had other thing to buy for him than a camera. This year, I finally wanted to get him one. As a Sony fan, it definitely is my first choice. Another reason, my LCD TV is a Sony too! We need a compatible camera for convenience. :p

T300 is touch screen model. The LCD is the largest among all models, which is 3.5". It is built with 5x optical zoom and 10.1 mega pixels resolution. I chose silver for dad as I didn't think he would like red, pink or black. There are a lot of new features developed with this model. I haven't had time to explore how to use it. Dad, you may try to figure out yourself for the time being. When I have time, I will 'teach' you how to use. :p

For mom, it was really tough to choose a present for her. She almost never expresses to us what she likes or she wishes to have. A lot of my friends suggested I gave her money instead of buying a present since I had no idea what to buy. I still insisted on buying her something. So, I bought her a bigger watch than the one I gave her 6 or 7 years ago. She is having far-sighted now and always struggles to see her tiny watch clearly. Knowing she likes pink, therefore I chose this. A very sweet watch for my noble and virtuous mom. :)

Five of us (dad, mom, Ring, Long and I) went for dinner for celebration on Saturday night. We had advanced celebration in order to avoid the crowd. Well...it seemed like a lot of people thought likewise too. It was crowded! We didn't make table reservation and nearly got kicked out from the restaurant. Dad wasn't too happy with the service and complained to the captain. After the fuss, we got a seat! Haha...sometimes you really need to blow to your top to get what you want huh? :p

We ordered shark fins soup, chili crab, Yuan Yang cod fish, Pi Pa duck, gold coin bean curd, spinach in soup for the feast.

May dad and mom enjoy the celebration and like the presents. Bless them lots of health and happiness always!
