Bali 13-May-10
We went to Kuta beach and spent about 1.5 hour there before it rained. The waves were quite impressive, good for surfing. The beach was definitely not the best. There was no white sand and no clear water. I am not a water sport fan, perhaps that's why I do not love Bali that much as a lot of people do.
We went to Matahari department store for shopping thereafter. We had our lunch and massage around the area too.
At night, we visited Centro shopping centre and had our dinner at their food court. We tried their local dishes like ikan bakar, tahu telur & ayam penyet. It was the cheapest meal we had in Bali, less than IDR 200k.
Overall, I enjoyed shopping more than the sightseeing and beach activity in Bali.

Bali 12-May-10
Our second day in Bali was hectic. We hired a driver cum tour guide to bring us some famous sightseeing attractions:
1. Ubud
2. Kintamani
3. Spice garden
4. Rice terrace
5. Monkey forest
6. Elephant cave
At night, we had our dinner at Legian Street. After that, we proceed to Kuta Square for massage. I had my first trial for Balinese massage with hot stone. The massage was fine but the stones were really hot! I was slightly scalded and I can still see the marks now. :(
We will go to the beach tomorrow. We plan to spend half day there and then proceed to Discovery Mall/Centro. We might go for another round of massage. That's all about Bali: sightseeing, beach, shopping and massage! :)

Bali 11-May-10
I am here finally! If not for the garden leave, I would not have this chance to plan for this trip with my family. I realise that I have been working too hard and enjoyed very little of my life. I wish I can be more balanced between work and personal life. Hopefully, my new job will permit. :p
We had our lunch at the hotel cafe this afternoon. The food was so-so. It cost us 435,000 IDR but it was definitely not worth that much.
We went to Kuta beach in the evening. We had foot, shoulder & neck massage for 65,000 IDR per pax. I found that the cashier was not so honest when I made the payment. She pretended that she was busy on the line and gave me wrong change. I counted and told her that she shortchanged me. I realise they like to try their luck on the change. Sorry...it didn't and won't work on me as I am a banker who is always very sensitive to 'money'. :p
We then went to a restaurant which was highly recommended by Joey. She had been there many times and she gave me a list of places/restaurants I should visit in Bali. Thanks to her, we made a right choice for our dinner. It is located near the main entrance of Matahari (Kuta Square). I strongly recommend their Tom Yum soup. It was so yummy! The meal cost us 285,000 IDR which I think it's quite reasonable. I will visit the restaurant again. :)
We will be going for full day trip tomorrow. A lot of friends love Bali very much. I wonder why. So now, I am going to find out the answer!

Garden Leave
Garden leave (or gardening leave) describes the practice whereby an employee who is leaving a job (having resigned or otherwise been terminated) is instructed to stay away from work during their notice period, while still remaining on the payroll. This practice is often used to prevent employees from taking with them up-to-date (and perhaps sensitive) information when they leave their current employer, especially when they are leaving to join a competitor. Employees continue to receive their normal pay during garden leave and are covered by any contractual duties, such as confidentiality agreements, until their notice period expires.
I am on garden leave now, enjoying my 1-month break! So great...
